The University of Southern California was founded in 1880 and it has the distinction of being the university with the largest body of international students in the country. Uniquely, the university also offers scholarship programs to students from the seven top countries attending the university, and has established an International Academy to cement its position as a global institution of learning.
As a privately funded university, it has one of the most highly rated research programs and is part of the top 10 funded institutes by the American government. The university also has a well-developed e-learning program offering over 80 degrees online. Additionally, its graduate engineering degrees offered online have been ranked in the top five for two years in a row by the U.S. News & World Report.
The Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science offers both Master’s and Doctoral degrees in petroleum engineering, but currently does not include Bachelor’s degrees in its curriculum. Degrees are also offered online through the university’s Distance Education Network (DEN@Viterbi) program, and as an online graduate program. It is ranked number four in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. In addition to the Master of Science degrees, there are also two specialized degrees for Geosciences Technologies and Smart Oilfield Technologies.
Students also have access to a variety of financial aid and scholarships to assist in funding their educational requirements, as well as a number of employer supported options where direct funding assistance is supported.
